Ruth Cole quietly walked onto the movie set when a security officer stepped in front of her.
“You need to leave the set now,” he said firmly.
Ruth remained calm. “Call Director Mara before you make that decision.”
The officer assumed Ruth had no connection to the production and insisted that she leave before filming began. Ruth looked toward the cameras and replied, “That film started with me.”
Before the disagreement went any further, Director Mara arrived.
“Take your hand off her,” Mara said. The officer quickly explained that he believed Ruth had entered without permission.
Mara shook her head. “This is Ruth Cole. She created the stunt we’re recreating today—and years ago, her courage saved my life.”
The officer’s expression immediately changed. He realized he had judged Ruth without first learning why she was there.
“Miss Cole, I was wrong. I’m sorry,” he said.
Ruth accepted the apology before Mara invited her toward the waiting cameras.
Looking around the elaborate set, Ruth quietly said, “You recreated my courage, but almost ignored the woman behind it.”
