An elderly man wearing simple, worn work clothes arrived at a hospital carrying a notebook. As he approached a restricted section of the surgical center, a security guard immediately stepped forward and blocked his way.
“You can’t go through there,” the guard told him.
The older man calmly explained that he needed to get inside. Instead of checking his credentials or asking for his name, the guard demanded proof of an appointment and insisted that he leave.
The man explained that he wasn’t there to argue, but the guard continued refusing him entry.
Moments later, a surgeon in medical scrubs walked through the doors and noticed the confrontation.
“Why did you stop him?” the surgeon asked.
The guard attempted to explain that the man did not have permission to enter. That was when the surgeon revealed the unexpected truth.
“You just stopped the founder of this surgical center!”
The guard was stunned.
The elderly man explained that his surgical team needed him, which was why he had come to the hospital that day.
Realizing his mistake, the guard apologized.
