An older man wearing simple work clothes pushed a cleaning cart through the lobby of a large corporate building. As he approached the elevators, a security guard suddenly stepped in front of him.
“Where do you think you’re going?” the guard demanded.
The man calmly explained that he needed to go upstairs. But instead of asking for identification or checking his authorization, the guard assumed he was part of the cleaning staff and ordered him back toward the service hallway.
The older man asked him not to touch his cart and reminded him that everyone deserved basic respect.
The guard refused to listen and threatened to remove him from the area.
Just then, a businesswoman stepped out of a nearby meeting room and immediately intervened.
“Wait! Do you know who you’re talking to?” she asked.
The guard attempted to explain, but the woman quickly revealed the truth.
“The entire board has been waiting for him. He is the founder of this company.”
The guard was left speechless as the older man prepared to head upstairs.
